Under-15 Division I Cricket Anuruddha hat-trick wrecks Raddoluwa

Gurukula College paceman Roshan Anuruddha has picked up five wickets, including a hat-trick according to school sources to steer the team to a crushing eight wicket victory over Raddoluwa MV in the Inter School Under-15 Division I limited overs tournament match played at Raddoluwa on Saturday.

Anuruddha picked up the third, fourth and fifth wickets in a row when the score was at six runs to rattle the top order of Raddoluwa MV. Raddoluwa could muster only 39 runs as paceman Anuruddha and leg spinner Namal Pathum shared five wickets apiece for Gurukula.

Carragher on the front foot in pace debate

RUSTENBURG, South Africa (AP) – Jamie Carragher still has the same perspective on being in the starting lineup in his comeback to the England squad as he had when he quit international football three years ago.

"I have come here and realized I wasn’t first choice, but I didn’t want to just be on the bench watching the games – I wanted to be involved," said Carragher, a strong contender for a starting role in England’s second World Cup match against Algeria on Friday. "I’m sure my experience will help. Experience is a big thing in football."

Riot police break up World Cup wages demonstration

DURBAN, South Africa (AP) – Armed riot police charged into hundreds of stewards at a World Cup stadium in the early hours of Monday morning to break up a protest about low wages.

Police appeared to set off two percussive grenades, causing loud bangs, to drive the protesters out of a parking lot under the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban hours after Germany beat Australia 4-0 in Group D.
