Christ King College, Pannipitiya came out on top when they ended up as group champions of the Under-13 Division III Cricket Tournament conducted by the Schools Cricket Association. Christ King College team played in Segment ‘M’ of the Under-13 Division III won three matches they played and drew one match.
Under captain Sahan Perera Christ King College beat Sri Rahula College, Angoda outright and beat Tikiri Kumara College, Ambatale, and Ananda College, Kottawa on 1st innings. The match between Christ King and Bomiriya Central College teams ended in no decision.

St. Sebastian College defeated Isipathana Vidyalaya, Colombo by innings and thirteen runs to gain their fifth victory from twelve matches this season in their inter-school under-19 cricket match worked off at Surrey Grounds, Maggona with the match ending at 3 p.m.
Remaining at 185 for 5 on day two Sebs declared at 272 for 9 with Sangeeth Cooray (81) and Anuk Fernando (56) associating a sixth wicket stand of 119 runs. Sidath Mallawarachchi bagged 5 for 79. In their second essay Isipathana were all out for 121 runs with Anuk Fernando claiming 6 for 37.

Prince of Wale’s College beat formidable Ananda College, Colombo by nine wickets and Cambrians were home for tea and match ending at 2.20 pm in their inter-school under-19 cricket match worked off at Moratuwa.
Cambrians who beat the strong Peterites after ten years a fortnight back and lost to Richmondites after a lapse of forty years bounced back to beat more fancied Ananda College thus giving ample evidence that "Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties".

Set to make 217 runs to win in 35 overs, St. Peter’s hung on to force a draw when they were badly placed with 183 for 9 with three overs more to be bowled when bad light intervened in their school cricket match against Royal at Reid Avenue yesterday.
Peterite skipper Shehan Fernando who scored 119 in the first innings missed the opportunity of scoring his second hundred as he kept the Peterite hoping flickering striking a resourceful 96 off 74 deliveries with the aid of nine fours and five sixes. He was engaged in two useful partnerships adding 87 runs for the second wicket with Janith Liyanage (38) and another 49 runs for the fourth wicket with Lahiru Milantha (21). With the dismissal of Lahiru Milantha who was run out and Shehan Fernando in the quest of accelerating was caught by Heshan Kumarasiri of Poorna Aluthge for 96 the Peterites lost their way and had to battle to avoid defeat.

DUBAI, Feb. 4, (AFP) – Experienced batsman Younis Khan proved his class with a superb hundred to put Pakistan in a good position on the second day of the third and final Test against England played here on Saturday.
The 34-year-old right-hander scored an unbeaten 115 to repair the Pakistan innings after early wobbles with youngster Azhar Ali (75 not out) through an unbroken third wicket stand of 194 to take their team to 222-2 at close.

Emil Zatopeck of Checkoslavakia, was one of the most outstanding long distance runners in the world. He took part in the 1952 Olympic Games, held at Helsinki – capital of Finland.
He was born in Checozlovakia in 1922. His parents were villagers. At a very young age, Zatopeck, started working in shoe factory. Hard-working Zatopeck’s ambition was to save money to further his higher studies. This disciplined determined youth, pursued his studies in foreign languages and in chemistry. He obtained his diploma in these subjects and later joined the Army.

Routed for a low score of 99 in their first innings by England pacemen Stuart Broad (4-36) and James Anderson (3-35), Pakistan spinners moved to the fore to leave England struggling at 104-6.
