Permanently disabled War Heroes get a Wellness Resort

Brave Hearts’, the project that provides a lifeline to the dependent War Heroes who became permanently disabled for the rest of their lives, is set to launch its Wellness Resort construction work with its foundation laying ceremony, fixed for May 15. First police academy to be launched

The first Police Academy in Sri Lanka will be launched at the Old Police College premises at Katana, Thimbirigaskatuwa in Negombo on April 26.

The Sri Lanka Police Academy was initiated under the patronage of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to make the police service more professional.

Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the Police Higher Training Institute was converted to the Sri Lanka Police Academy to enable the personnel in the Police Service to continue their studies and become graduands in the field of Police Science. He also stated that this was a remarkable opportunity for those in the Police service ranging from the Police Constable to higher ranks to study and be proficient in their own field. Four new industrial zones for North & East

The government has already made the necessary steps to establish four new industrial zones in the Northern and Eastern provinces mainly in Tricomalee, Baticaloa, Mannar and Jaffna areas within the next few months, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Industrial Development W.D. Jayasinghe said.

An industrial zone of 50 acres will be established in Trincomalee and 30 industries will be set up in that zone while a 25 acre land has been identified to establish an industrial zone at Batticaloa town to set up 15 new industries, Mr. Jayasinghe added.

Host of activities in Mannar

Several activities will be carried out today to mark the World Water Day in the Mannar district organized by the European Union Delegation in Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Sewa Lanka Foundation, Mannar Office and the Zonal Education Department of Madhu.

An EU spokesperson said an art competition and environmental awareness program for students in the Manthai West Division in the Mannar district was held to mark the World Water Day.

Govt will fulfill duties with respect to War Heroes

Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has emphasised that the Government will fulfill its duties by all war heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to liberate the country.

He said District Ranuwiru Seva Authorities are taking measures to solve the grievances of the families of the Police and Service Personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice. No room for terrorism to re-emerge – Defence Secretary

Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has emphasized that they will leave no room for the liberated country to be betrayed or for terrorism to raise its head again.

The Defence Secretary recalled that TNA Parliamentarians told in Parliament that they recognized Eelam and their leader was Prabhakaran. The victory after three years was achieved encountering various difficulties after three years. As such Mr Rajapaksa said they cannot betray this victory. Meanwhile troops of 623 Brigade operating in Puthukkudiyiruppu TF 2 area recovered 1820 x 7.62 x 51 GPMG ammunition and 360 x 12.7 ammunition
