“Will the real leader of the JVP, please stand up?”

“Will the real Slim Shady please stand up” is a line from the Eminem song “The real slim shady” and strangely from time to time various individuals have been pointing fingers at the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and ask “will the real leader of the JVP please stand up?”
The basis for this is the hypothesis that Somawansa Amarasinghe and the politburo represent only the public face of the party, and the ‘real’ JVP is an underground movement led by the elusive Kumar Gunaratnam alias Kumar Mahaththaya. It has also been alleged that Gunaratnam was saved by Gen. Sarath Fonseka during the JVP`s 1987-89 uprising and this is the real reason why the JVP is continuing to support Gen. Fonseka even after the United National Party (UNP) has left him to his own devises.

Minister becomes aliya?

A recent event — see picture at right — in which a jeepload of journalists were taken to Lunugamwehera national park by the tourism minister Acahcla Jagoda, to report on the release to the wilds of four elephants, ended in a fiasco with the journalists witnessing nothing when they arrived at the park.
Apparently though Jagoda’s ministry and the environment ministry has coordinated media coverage for the event, when the media entourage that was to cover the event arrived at the park, environment minister Champika Ranawaka had already let the elephants go, after getting his own ministry media team to photograph and record the event.

GK depositors back President as last resort to get money back

Victims of the Golden Key and other collapsed financial companies of the Ceylinco Group may have to forget their money as police are making no headway and have stalled proper investigations to ascertain the assets of the Ceylinco Group, depositors charge.
