The Sri Lankan government will present its first draft of proposed solutions to New Delhi in June, Asiantribune quoted government sources as saying.
The proposals will be presented by President Mahinda Rajapakse to Indian Premier Dr. Manmohan Singh as well as the President of India Pratibha Patil in June during President Rajapakse’s official visit to New Delhi.

Sri Lanka received a boost in its efforts to regain the GSP plus trade benefits with the European Union expressing satisfaction on the progress in Sri Lanka following the end of the war and indicating it will continue negotiations on the GSP plus issue.

Parliament sittings were adjourned at 2:00 p.m. yesterday due to bad weather that triggered the threat of flash floods in the area surrounding the parliament complex.
Party leaders unanimously decided to suspend the day’s proceedings since the roads leading to the parliament complex had been submerged by rising waters of the Diyawanna Oya.

UNP Puttalam district Member of Parliament Palitha Range Bandara today slammed his party general secretary Tissa Attanayaka over his failure to take disciplinary action against a UNP member.
Speaking to Daily Mirror online, Bandara further warned that he would be compelled to re-consider his position in the UNP if Attanayaka fails to take appropriate action against the UNP member in question over the next two weeks.

Sri Lanka has urged the European governments not to provide any political or symbolic support towards the LTTE’s initiative to forming a so called Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Belgium and Luxemburg and the EU Ravinatha Aryasinha said the LTTE’s initiative to forming a so called “Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam” (PTGTE), with “country working groups” at national and regional levels in western countries was a ruse to perpetuate its terrorist struggle.
