demand remains slack in key Western markets.
The company, which specializes in white porcelain, and produces a limited quantity of ivory porcelain, has begun a new project to produce ‘Fine China’, a statement said.

Sri Lanka Cricket is saddled with a $23 million debt after cost overruns and hefty bills incurred building stadiums for the recent World Cup.
“We spent a lot of money to host the World Cup, to build two stadiums and rebuild one stadium. The World Cup left us a 2.5 billion rupee deficit,” Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage told reporters.

The Sri Lanka Air Force have deployed eight helicopters consisting of Bell 212s and Mi17 helicopters for rescue operations in flood affected areas including Anuradhapura and Batticaloa. More than 17000 kilos of relief supplies have also been airlifted for the victims.
Twenty five people have been rescued by the SLAF from the North Central Province thus far. (SD)

Sri Lanka will move a step closer to becoming the “Wonder of Asia” during the last week of July when the country’s first toll highway opens from Colombo to Galle.
Over 85 percent of the construction of this mammoth development project, which cost Rs. 100 billion, has now been completed. “We are confident that we can open the first stage by the end of July,” said Chairman Southern Transport Development Project (STDP) P. H. Premasiri.
