Abeywardena Balasuriya passes away

Popular singer Abeywardena Balasuriya (65) passed away on Friday night at the National Hospital, Colombo. He was ailing for sometime.
He came to the limelight in the late 1960s with his distinct voice and with that he was able to enter into the Sinhala cinema as a background singer. The people will always remember his love songs in ‘Duhulu Malak.’ The most popular among them was ‘Bonda Meedum’ that he sang with Sujatha Attanayaka.
